Literal is a PDF reader that manages your document library, saves your highlights, and enhances your reading experience.

Literal is a better way to read PDF documents directly in Chrome. This extension provides the Literal Reader as the default PDF viewer in Chrome. PDF files you open online and from your computer will display in Literal.

Literal will automatically archive and organize the PDF documents you open, making sure that you will never lose track of a document's location again. You can quickly find a document you read months ago and share it. Your entire document library is backed up and accessible from anywhere from your Dashboard. By default, all of your documents are private and can only be accessed by yourself, but can optionally be shared with others.

Highlights are a great way to interact with what you're reading: highlight text that is meaningful or important to remember. Create highlights within Literal by selecting text within a document and clicking the highlighter button that appears at the right edge of the page. Your highlights will appear on your dashboard and link to the highlighted text in the original document. You can share your highlights.

Literal is a PDF reader built for the Web, and contains many cloud-based features not offered by other readers. Integrations with Google Drive and Dropbox enable you to directly save and open documents from cloud storage providers and easily centralize your library of documents on Literal. Your entire library is backed up to the cloud and completely available anywhere you log in. Literal employs machine learning backed features to further enhance your documents, including Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to automatically add a searchable and selectable text layer to scanned documents.

Literal's reader is designed to improve your reading experience, and its functionally minimal interface enables you to focus on the document that you're reading instead of the reader that you're using. Reader controls (search, zoom, pagination, file management) are located within a sleek control bar that hides itself when you're not using it, leaving you with a clean and uninterrupted reading experience.

Literal and its basic features are completely free to use, but also offers a paid subscription plan for users who desire an enhanced premium feature set, including lifetime library history and Optical Character Recognition. When you install and sign up for Literal, you will be enrolled in a 14 day free trial of Literal Plus.
